Well over three years ago Freidig Moto-Active Ltd ran into an acute shortage of space at its business premises. The family company for motorbike accessories supplied the motorbike trade so successfully that an expansion of the premises became unavoidable. A suitable plot was found in Sumiswald, the home-town of the owners, the Freidig family, to build a new site with offices, showrooms and training rooms as well as a warehouse. The new headquarters of Freidig Moto-Active GmbH, measuring 50 metres long, 25 metres wide and eight metres high, were built on an area covering 7,000 square metres.

Heinz Freidig: «The sale is the optimal solution to the succession»
On 1 January 2019 the couple who own the business, Eveline and Heinz Freidig, now reached another major milestone to ensure a prosper future for their company. On the one hand, by selling their company to the hostettler group they opt for advantageous synergies regarding the further development of the business. On the other hand, the merger with the strong partner from central Switzerland also satisfies a personal wish. «I’m very happy about this long-term solution», says Heinz Freidig. «Firstly, because it provides an optimal solution to the succession. Secondly, Thanks to this collaboration with hostettler group and as the future managing director of Freidig Moto-Active GmbH, I can also continue to contribute my know-how and actively participate to the company’s development.»
Peter Hostettler: «Expanding the range, developing new markets»
Peter Hostettler is also very satisfied about the deal after signing the purchase agreement: «Thanks to the acquisition of Freidig Moto-Active Ltd, we are convinced that we can expand our business, use the synergies sensibly in the future and develop new markets.» Thanks to Freidig, new brands such as Belstaff, Acerbis or Moto eleven have become part of the hostettler group’s portfolio. «We are building up our strength and expertise in the motorcycle sector even more by buying this company and, in addition to our customers, all our other partners will also be able to benefit from this», explains Peter Hostettler. Both parties have agreed to remain silent about the purchase price.
After the sale to the hostettler group, Freidig Moto-Active Ltd will continue to be managed as an independent company at the site in Sumiswald with 13 employees (including an apprentice). «We will advise our customers in the usual professional manner, but will be able to deploy even greater expertise in the motorbike sector in the future», promises Heinz Freidig.
