intercycle ag operates in a highly dynamic environment. Growth has been achieved thanks to increased market demand – not least because the COVID-19 pandemic has triggered huge demand for bicycles, e-bikes, accessories, clothing and other products. As well as boosting sales, this upswing is creating increased space requirements for goods receiving, storage, picking and staging. At the same time, customers are calling for ever-shorter delivery times. Consistent concentration on core competencies is essential to ensure that all these needs can be met.
After considering the strategic aspects, the management of intercycle ag has decided to outsource the company’s entire warehousing and logistics services to Zibatra Logistik AG with effect from 1 January 2022. The two companies have already collaborated successfully on cycle logistics for the last four years. As a bicycle specialist, Zibatra covers all stages of the process from warehouse logistics and assembly through to transportation.
Jobs will stay in Sursee until 2024
This restructuring will affect 18 employees, including four apprentices. All of them have received suitable job offers from Zibatra Logistik AG. The employees will keep their jobs in Sursee until further notice. Zibatra Logistik AG is expected to move into its new warehouse infrastructure in Rickenbach (Canton of Solothurn) in 2024 at the earliest, and it will gradually integrate the intercycle ag inventory at that time.
Expanding services
For Peter Hostettler too, the focus has been on the growing requirements for flexibility and additional services: “I’m delighted that this landmark decision will enable us to offer additional services to our customers and dealers, thanks to our collaboration with Zibatra, our professional partner.” As a result of the outsourcing, intercycle ag will be able to concentrate even more intensively on its core competencies – the wholesale trade and the ongoing development of its BiXS, Wheeler and Mustang bicycle brands.
